
Staining solutions May Grunwald
Staining is a technique used primarily for staining of blood smear or bone marrow smear samples. It allows to differentiate qualitatively and quantitatively the main formed elements of the blood. In clinical hematology laboratories it is especially useful for the demonstration of alterations in the number, proportion and morphology of blood cells. It can also be adapted for use as a classical staining technique for histological sections.
The May-Grünwald solution, which contains the anionic dye eosin and the cationic dye methylene blue both dissolved in methanol.
